A Swashbuckling Success at Printers Playhouse!

Date: 30th November

Venue: Printers Playhouse, 49A Grove Road, Eastbourne

Printers Playhouse transformed into a seafaring haven last Saturday night, hosting a pirate-themed party that left everyone grinning like treasure-laden buccaneers. With guests decked out in tricorn hats, eye patches, and stripes, the event wasn't just a hit—it was a triumph, raising over £1,000 for our next community arts project and Christmas show, Treasure Island.

The evening began with a hearty welcome from the hosts, who donned their finest pirate regalia and set the tone for an evening of fun and philanthropy. As the sounds of sea shanties filled the venue, attendees mingled in a space adorned with pirate flags, barrels, and treasure chests overflowing with gold (chocolate coins, of course).

Entertainment Fit for a Captain

The highlight of the night was a rollicking performance round of Singo Bingo where the party goers sang their way through a rousing repertoire of rousing sing-a-long tunes. That was followed by a sea shanty led by Nick and then a silent disco with pop, dance and indie channels to dance to.

Earlier on there had been a fun quiz to wet the appetite in the photo stage, complete with pirate props, captured unforgettable memories and fuelled the evening’s laughter.

A Cause Worth Raising a Tankard To

The party wasn’t just about fun—it was about making a difference. The funds raised, will go toward a local community arts project aimed at nurturing creativity and providing accessible art workshops for all ages. Printers Playhouse has long been a champion of grassroots initiatives, and this event further cemented their reputation as a hub for culture and community spirit.

Community Spirit in Full Sail

The success of the evening was thanks to the unwavering support of the Printers Playhouse team, generous donors, and enthusiastic attendees. From the rum cocktails to the pirate trivia quiz, every element was carefully crafted to deliver a memorable experience while supporting a worthy cause.

During the evening the crowd joined together for a resounding chorus of "What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor," sending everyone home with full hearts and high spirits.

A Final Word from the Captain

"Seeing everyone come together for such a fun and meaningful cause was heart-warming," said Printers Playhouse Owner Viv Berry. "We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community and can't wait to see how the funds help spark creativity in the arts project."

Here’s to Printers Playhouse for proving that pirates aren’t just after treasure—they’re also champions of community and creativity. Until the next adventure, may your sails be full, and your rum never run dry!
